Rena Shah

Hello, I’m Rena, an energy (petroleum) engineer and management consultant. I advise on go-to-market strategy, business development/sales, and operations.

I specialize in helping tech companies save energy! I’m passionate about updating antiquated industries like energy with emerging AI and blockchain technology.

I currently run Partnerships for the Global Currency Organization. GCO  utilizes blockchain technology to make institutional financial products available to all. Before GCO, I was a principal at Kinship Advisors, a boutique advisory firm.

Prior to consulting, I established my career in energy. As a petroleum engineer for Chevron, I designed and operated offshore oil platforms across the world. Subsequently, I transitioned into private equity as an alternative energy analyst and operations lead for a family office ($1B assets under management).

Now, I mainly focus on blockchain and crypto. I inherently believe cryptocurrency will be the next global commodity like oil. So much so, that I’ve taught myself to mine altcoins on my laptop (though my CPU wasn’t happy with me)!

Why did you leave Engineering & Finance?

I didn’t leave – I just shifted my focus to tech 🙂

An “I can’t believe I’m doing this opportunity” inspired me. I met the Houston Texans’ leadership and as their analyst, I learned how capital was deployed to build billions of dollars of energy infrastructure and how technology will bring change.

Why are you interested in blockchain?

I’ve worked in the largest, most volatile commodity industries, oil. I’ve analyzed trends and forecasted prices in both bull and bear markets. Cryptocurrencies will become the new global commodity within due time.

I believe so passionately about the internet money and blockchain space, that I run a fully sustainable solar-powered altcoin mining operations. 

Mining for coins is quite frankly similar to drilling for oil. Both of these experiences draw parallels to each other on how creative teams build and drive innovation.
